Welcome to A Mindful World

The person behind the words:
I’m Lora, a 22 year old sociology graduate and SEN learning support assistant from Northern England. I have no professional experience in journalism but I have always had a passion for writing and plan to go into investigative journalism and travel after I gather some more work experience in the teaching field. In my spare time I enjoy creative and relaxing activities such as reading, scrapbooking, photography, hanging out with friends and long walks. The aim here at A Mindful World is to present well researched and / or personal articles to continue the conversation around important and current topics, such as social issues, environmental sustainability and mental health. As well as building an online community, where we can learn to cope with our tough days by forming healthier habits and investing time and energy in our wellbeing together.
Other relevant facts about me: I’ve been vegetarian since June 2016. I’m a proud bisexual womxn, who has a fluid relationship with gender. I am fairly anti-political, progressive and open minded. I am White British and come from a working-class background. I have my struggles with anxiety and depression and I am also trained in Mental Health First Aid.

Quotes:

Bell Hooks ~

“You were not born on earth to please anyone; you have to live life to express yourself, not to impress someone, Don’t pretend to be someone youre not, and never lose yourself in search of other people’s acceptance and approval”

David Attenborough ~

“As hunter-gatherers, we lived a sustainable life because that was the only option, all these years later, it’s once again the only option. We need to rediscover how to be sustainable, to move from being a part from nature, to become a part of nature once again”
